Welcome to an educational journey like no other, where small is not just a number, but a deliberate choice. At B’nai Shalom Day School, we embrace the power of being small by design, for it allows us to craft a once of a kind educational experience that is intimate, inspiring, and deeply connect to our mission of inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, confidence, and a connection to Jewish values.

Hours: The B’nai Shalom school day runs from 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM with carpool line drop-off starting at 7:30 AM.
After school enrichment is offered for all students until 5:30 PM.
In Preschool, there is a full-day option which runs from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, or a half-day option which runs from 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM.
Lunch & Snacks: All food is provided by families. Our school is a kosher dairy campus, which means:No meat is allowed on campus at any time (including poultry and items like pepperoni or chicken nuggets).
Dairy and vegetarian foods are welcome.
Kosher certification is not required for items in student lunchboxes — families do not need to check for a hechsher.
Our approach allows us to honor Jewish dietary traditions while keeping things simple and accessible for all our families. If you ever have questions about what’s okay to pack, we’re happy to help!

At B’nai Shalom, we joyfully celebrate all Jewish holidays as part of our vibrant school culture. We are closed for many major holidays, including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Passover, to allow families time for observance and reflection. In our classrooms, holidays come to life through age-appropriate experiences—from storybooks and crafts in preschool to more formal learning, celebrations, and rituals in the upper grades—helping students connect deeply with Jewish tradition and community.
Traditions are a meaningful part of life at B’nai Shalom, connecting students across generations and grade levels. We gather for a joyful school-wide Passover seder, walk together to Brown Bark Park for Tashlich during the High Holidays, and share a potluck-style Thanksgiving meal where each K-8 class contributes a dish. Some traditions go back more than 50 years, like our 8th grade classes leaving behind a legacy art piece, while others are newly beloved, like our festive CAR-nival celebration for Purim. Together, these moments help build a strong sense of community and Jewish identity.

The arts are a vibrant part of student life at B’nai Shalom, where creativity is celebrated in every form. Students explore visual and performing arts—including art, drama, and music—with an emphasis on the creative process rather than just the final product. Our program is designed to build confidence, and encourage self-expression. Students showcase their talents twice a year: at our joyful Hanukkah show, which features music and a play, and at Zimriyah, a spirited celebration of music and dance.

Athletics are back at B’nai Shalom, and we’re bringing the Blizzard Pride! As the B’nai Blizzards, our students will once again have the opportunity to represent our school in team sports, starting with cross country and volleyball. Through practices and competitions, student-athletes will build teamwork, school spirit, and confidence—all while showing what it means to be a proud Blizzard on and off the court.

At B’nai Shalom, our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ) is woven into classroom learning from an early age. As an inclusive Jewish day school, we strive to affirm kindness, respect, and belonging for all learners. Our school welcomes diversity—including age, culture, gender, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and ability—for all members of our community. Every student participates in a curriculum that centers diversity and belonging, with an emphasis not only on understanding differences, but also on fostering justice. We aim to prepare our learners to be global citizens with a strong sense of identity who can be thoughtful, compassionate, and active agents of change.

Leadership is nurtured at B’nai Shalom through meaningful relationships and hands-on experiences. Our Buddies Program pairs older students with younger ones, giving them the chance to be role models while building empathy, responsibility, and connection across grade levels. We’ve also introduced a new service learning component to our curriculum, helping students understand the importance of giving back and making a positive impact in their communities. These experiences are rooted in the Jewish value of l’dor v’dor—from generation to generation—as we empower students to lead with kindness, purpose, and a sense of shared responsibility.

At B’nai Shalom, social-emotional learning (SEL) is woven into the fabric of daily classroom life. Our teachers engage in weekly SEL professional development to ensure they’re equipped to guide students through teachable moments as they arise, fostering emotional intelligence and resilience. In addition, our School Counselor meets with students weekly to lead dedicated SEL lessons. Each month, we focus on a “Character Strong” trait—such as honesty, empathy, or perseverance—intentionally aligning these values with the Jewish calendar to create meaningful connections between personal growth and Jewish tradition.

At B’nai Shalom Day School, technology and innovation are woven into the fabric of student learning from an early age. Beginning in Kindergarten, students engage with our Maker Space, the FabLab—a hands-on environment where they’re encouraged to experiment, create, and learn through trial and error. As they grow, so does their proficiency with advanced tools like laser cutters and 3D printers, which they use regularly in cross-curricular projects by 8th grade. Our robust technology program includes coding and robotics, with plans underway to launch a competitive robotics team. Every student is issued an iPad, which is used in the classroom to support specific lessons and enhance learning, while remaining at school to foster healthy digital habits.

The community at B’nai Shalom Day School is often described as feeling like family—close-knit, supportive, and deeply connected. Parents are active partners in school life, volunteering regularly and contributing to a culture of giving and shared responsibility. The Parent Association helps nurture these bonds by organizing engaging meet-ups for both children and adults, creating opportunities to build friendships and lasting connections. To further support the parent experience, the school offers a weekly community coffee, a parent book club, and a variety of one-time programs throughout the year. At B’nai Shalom, no one walks the journey alone—you are part of a caring, connected community.
