Inaugural Community Impact Award Recipient

It is with great excitement that we are announcing Aaron Strasser as our Inaugural Community Impact Award recipient. It’s hard to imagine where B’nai Shalom would be today without him. From his own graduation in 1988 to guiding his children through their educational journey at B'nai Shalom, Aaron's commitment spans generations.

Aaron’s wife, Jen, said, “Judaism is fundamental to Aaron’s core and that identity was and is nurtured by his family. The generational connection to Judaism from his grandparents and parents to his children is what has made Aaron an integral part of Jewish leadership in Greensboro and specifically B’nai Shalom. B’nai has played such an important role in helping to shape his Jewish identity as a child and then by giving back as a parent and leader at B’nai. This is a place where he could be 100% his authentic self and learn about who he is before having to question or defend it. The safe and nurturing environment of B’nai is what made him the leader you see today.”

Over the years, Aaron's role as Board Chair and his involvement in key initiatives, such as chairing the 50th campaign that raised over 1.1 million dollars, underscore his commitment to the school's financial health and overall success. His strategic thinking and problem-solving skills have made him a go-to person for advice in challenging situations, and his ability to easily come up with solutions has undoubtedly been a valuable asset to the school community. Moreover, his passion for experiential learning opportunities has enriched the educational experience of our students.

Head of School Susan Siegel, reflecting on her experience working with Aaron, shares, “Aaron was on the search committee that hired me eleven years ago and he promised me that he would always support me and he never wavered from that promise. Aaron was one of my most valued thought partners throughout my time here and I credit a lot of my success to him. I’m really going to miss working with him after I leave.”

In recognition of Aaron's outstanding contributions, we are thrilled to present him with the Inaugural Community Impact Award at the upcoming Sneaker Soiree on Saturday, February 24, 2024. B’nai Shalom celebrates not only his individual achievements, but also the lasting imprint he has left on the school's culture, growth, and educational approach.

We invite you to join us in honoring Aaron at the Sneaker Soiree. Your presence and support would mean the world to us as we pay tribute to a leader who has shaped the heart and soul of our school.
