Alyse Eisenberg to serve as preschool’s Early Childhood Jewish Education Expert-in-Residence
As part of the B’nai Shalom Preschool’s ongoing professional development training, Preschool Director Lisa Lasovsky is happy to announce Alyse Eisenberg as the preschool’s Early Childhood Jewish Education Expert-in-Residence for the next three years. Alyse, from Plano, Texas, has been a Jewish early childhood educator for over 30 years. She has held leadership positions in multiple Jewish educational institutions, including serving as the President of the National Jewish Early Childhood Network, and currently works at the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas as their Early Childhood Specialist and PJ Library Manager, while earning an Executive Masters in Jewish Professional Studies.
Alyse traveled to Greensboro last week for her first of several on-site visits. Her goals of the visit were to observe how B’nai’s preschool runs and to conduct a workshop with the entire preschool team on the recent teacher work day. Alyse began her workshop by having the teachers create personal micrography. Micrography is a Jewish scribal art that forms the outline of images in tiny script. The teachers used poems, songs, and inspiring words to create their individual portraits. Please enjoy these portraits on display. Can you guess who is who?
In the workshop, teachers explored the importance of why they do what they do, delved deeply into character development, learned about new and innovative resources, and identified how to meaningfully connect Jewish values to their work with the children. These values are organically integrated into all classes at B’nai Shalom.
Alyse’s knowledge and wealth of ideas are true gifts to our teachers, as they establish strong foundations for our students’ future Jewish educational experiences. Alyse cannot wait to continue her work with our “beautiful school” over the next few years.
