First Day of School
Here is everything you need to know for the first day of school!
-
We have two carpool lines: one for families with preschool students and another for K-8 students. Please use the appropriate carpool line based on the age of your youngest child. For example, if you have children in both the Preschool and Lower/Upper School, you should use the Preschool carpool line.
Please ensure that you use your labeled hangtag in your car mirror during drop off and pick up. If you need a new hangtag, please let us know.
Preschool:
Morning carpool lasts from 7:30 to 8:00 AM. Preschool parents may choose to use the Preschool carpool line at this time. A staff member will take your child to their classroom.
If you arrive after 8:00 AM, please park and bring your child to their classroom.
For 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM dismissal, please wait in the Preschool carpool line. Click “Announce” on PikMyKid when you arrive at school. (See below for an explanation of the PikMyKid App). A staff member will bring your child to your car. We are prohibited from buckling children into their seats.
If your child is staying in After School Enrichment (until 5:30 PM), please park and pick up your child inside the building.
Lower School & Upper School:
Morning carpool lasts from 7:30 to 7:50 AM. Please use the appropriate carpool line to drop off your child. Students are expected to be in class by 8:00 AM. Students will be marked tardy after 8:00 AM.
Afternoon pick up begins at 3:30 PM. Please wait in the appropriate carpool line. Click “Announce” on PikMyKid when you arrive at school. (See below for an explanation of the PikMyKid App). A staff member will bring your child to your car.
If your child is staying in After School Enrichment (until 5:30 PM), please park and pick up your child inside the building.
-
We use an app called PikMyKid to facilitate carpool pick up. Please ensure that any individual that is designated to pick up your children has a PikMyKid account. This app is necessary for our carpool.
New families, please use this guide to create an account.
-
In Toddlers- 8th grade classrooms, we use an app called Seesaw to share pictures of your child and their classmates, as well as for classroom updates and news. Checking this app regularly is necessary to ensure that you are staying informed of what is happening in the classroom.
The infant classroom uses an app called Procare, in which teachers will share photos along with information about feedings, naps, and diaper changes.
For new families, you will receive an email to set up your account.
-
Please email frontdesk@bnai-shalom.org when:
You are picking up your child early.
Your child will be arriving late to school.
Someone besides a parent or guardian will be picking up your child and you have not delegated pickup to that contact in the PikMyKid app.
There is a change to your child’s pick-up time (for example, they are not staying for After School Enrichment).
You would like to sign your child up as a drop in for After School Enrichment.
There is any other timely information that needs to be communicated with the school or teachers.
