What is your official role at B'nai Shalom Day School?

5th-8th grade English Language Arts and Spanish Teacher

What is your favorite thing about your role?

I love learning alongside this group of stellar middle schoolers. I also appreciate the autonomy I'm given to develop creative lessons that meet students where they are. And don't get me started on the fellow staff and parents at B'nai Shalom. This community is like no other.

What made you choose to work at B’nai Shalom Day School?

It really was kismet. I was a public school teacher and a new mama, who was connected to another mom on Facebook. She posted about an open position where she worked, B'nai Shalom Day School. Although we had never met, I was really interested in what she shared, and reached out to her with questions (thank YOU Melissa). I ended up interviewing for a Pre-School position, and after spending just a few hours with Lisa, Ryann, and Jaime, I knew right away that B'nai was the place for me and my daughter Lulu. Like I said, don't get me started on the staff here!

What do you look forward to every day?

Drinking a cup of coffee, getting my daughter out of her crib and seeing her bedhead, coming to work and picking out the music and uplifting message of the day for homeroom, and then wrapping up with the beautiful chaos that is dinnertime with my husband, daughter, and our doggie Fred.

What is one of your bucket list items?

I spent a lot of my 20s and 30s traveling and living abroad, but still really hope to make to it all 7 continents. One more to go!

If your younger self could meet you as an adult, what would they be most impressed by?

Young Meg may be impressed by her (my) ability to overcome obstacles and how I set goals and actually accomplished them. She might also might say "wow you still have all of those beanie babies and they aren't worth anything?!"

What is your mantra?

Every little thing's gonna be alright.
