A Note from New Head of School, Eva Turner

Dear B’nai Shalom Community,

Eva Turner, Head of School

As I take on the responsibilities of Head of School, I want to wish Susan Siegel the very best in her next adventure and express my deepest gratitude for her dedicated service to B’nai Shalom. She has left an indelible mark on our school community, and we are all immensely thankful for her leadership.

I have worn many hats over my time at B’nai Shalom, but the one that has brought me the greatest joy has been that of a parent. My husband Jamie and I have always said that B’nai Shalom has taught our boys that school is a place where they are loved. Being loved and nurtured by the talented teachers in this building is the greatest gift that we could ever give to them.

But I know that Isaac and Asher aren’t special. This feeling is something that generations of parents have said of their children's experience within our classrooms. Together, as parents, alumni, teachers, and friends of the school, we create a space where our students are truly, deeply loved and are seen for exactly who they are. Together we have created a community in which students are able to learn as their whole selves and thrive.

Among all the roles I have held at B’nai Shalom, my new role as Head of School fills me with the deepest sense of awe. If an educator is really lucky, they find a school that aligns with their own values and whose mission they can embrace with their whole self. For me, B’nai Shalom is that school. I am committed to sustaining our proud legacy and ensuring our enduring presence for future generations. Together we not only cultivate academic excellence, but foster a strong, vibrant community grounded in shared values.

As our students dive into their first week of summer break, our dedicated teachers are busy finalizing the 2023-2024 school year, eagerly anticipating their well-earned rest. Meanwhile, our school leadership team will spend the summer planning for the next academic year. We are excited to see all that the 2024-2025 school year brings!

Thank you all for your incredible efforts in making B’nai Shalom a vibrant community where our children flourish. I look forward to many opportunities for partnership with all of you in service to this wonderful school and to the larger Greensboro Jewish community.

Eva Turner, Head of School
